“Robert M. Parker Jr., is, without question, the world’s most influential
wine critic.” Decanter. This wine critic rated three Wise Chardonnays amongst
‘Australia’s Best Producers of Chardonnay’.
He awarded all three Chardonnays 4 stars (Excellent)
and on par with industry greats such as Leeuwin Estate Art Series, Cullen and
Giaconda.

“Three fine offerings, the 1997 Aquercus Unwooded Chardonay, form the Margaret
River region of Western Australia, exhibits a light straw colour and ripe, honeyed
pear, mango and citrus flavours presented in a medium-bodied pure format. It should
drink well for 1-2 years. The
1997 Chardonnay, which was aged in American oak in addition to lees aging, displays
an attractive toasty, caramel note to its ripe, honeyed, rich fruit flavours.
Medium to full bodied, with attractive tropical fruit flavours, it should drink
well for 1-2 years. Last, the 1998 Chardonnay Coat Door….revals honeyed tropical
fruit, subtle spice, and a nicely textured, rich, fleshy finish..”

Refreshing without doubt, but I couldn't imagine finding a great degree of complexity
and elegance.
I humbly apologise for underestimating the quality of South-West wines.
The Wise Pemberton 2001 Unwooded Chardonnay is as good as it gets
(and it gets very good). The nose is a stunning mix of lemon and peach. The colour
is pale gold and the palate is crisp with a hint of melon. It is difficult not
