"Wise Classic White 2003 - Bargain Buy White: A snappy, racy
West Australian blend of semillon from the maritime climate of Margaret River
and sauvignon blanc from the cooler Pemberton region. Its lovely lifted aromas,
fresh lemongrass flavours, and an enticing blend of soft acid and clean sparkling
fruit, place it above the pack." Jeff Collerson, Sydney Daily Telegraph,
September 03.

2003: "Wise has lifted the bar in recent vintages. This is by far the best
I have seen of this wine. It shows a delightful assembly of tinned fruit and spicy
herbal aromas, with plenty of fruit on the palate that is right in tune with complementing
acidity and zing on the finish. As Bruce Dukes suggests, 'bring me a fire-grilled
chorizo and a glass of this wine any time!" Scoop Magazine - Summer Tasting

Wise Chardonnays-General
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robert M. Parker Jr., is, without question, the worlds most influential
wine critic. Decanter. This wine critic rated three Wise Chardonnays amongst
Australias Best Producers of Chardonnay.
He awarded all three Chardonnays 4 stars (Excellent)
and on par with industry greats such as Leeuwin Estate Art Series, Cullen and
Giaconda.
These were his comments:
Three fine offerings, the 1997 Aquercus Unwooded Chardonay, form the Margaret
River region of Western Australia, exhibits a light straw colour and ripe, honeyed
pear, mango and citrus flavours presented in a medium-bodied pure format. It should
drink well for 1-2 years. The
1997 Chardonnay, which was aged in American oak in addition to lees aging, displays
an attractive toasty, caramel note to its ripe, honeyed, rich fruit flavours.
Medium to full bodied, with attractive tropical fruit flavours, it should drink
well for 1-2 years. Last, the 1998 Chardonnay Coat Door
.revals honeyed tropical
fruit, subtle spice, and a nicely textured, rich, fleshy finish..

Wise Unwooded Chardonnay
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2003: "The 2002 Wise Pemberton Unwooded Chardonnay took the only gold in
its class
at last year's Perth Royal Show and the 2003 is a worthy follow up, offering deliciously
juicy melon on citrus flavours, fine acid and good dimensions of length and depth."

2001: "The last place I'd look for a wine experience is an unwooded chardonnay.
Refreshing without doubt, but I couldn't imagine finding a great degree of complexity
and elegance.
I humbly apologise for underestimating the quality of South-West wines.
The Wise Pemberton 2001 Unwooded Chardonnay is as good as it gets
(and it gets very good). The nose is a stunning mix of lemon and peach. The colour
is pale gold and the palate is crisp with a hint of melon. It is difficult not
to speak too highly of this wine." Ross Manson, Wine Press, April 02

The 2001 Wise Donnybrook Valley Chardonnay, $25, from vineyards planted
in 1998, is a move towards a more elegant style. There are heaps of ripe melon
and citrus flavours, with a touch of sweet savoury oak and a definite texture,
but the wine is restrained in an elegant way. Bill Thompson, The Sunday
Times, 10th August, 2003
2001: A most impressive wine showing the emergence of this area in the Geographe
region. It's a crisp, fine and delicate wine, yet there is a substantial kick
of quite powerful fruit that just keeps on keeping on. The flavour is balanced
and lingers to a sustained finish. Impressive stuff. 87/100." Ray Jordan's
Guide to Wine 2003/2004
2001: "With wines like this it won't take the Donnybrook region long to gain
a reputation of producing quality wines. Produced from 14-year-old vines of the
reputable Gin Gin clone and situated on the rich decomposed laterite soils in
the area, this wine is well worth seeking out." Scoop Magazine - Summer Tasting

2002: "Quite different in structure and flavour to the Donnybrook
wine. Shows more tropical fruits and slightly more obvious charry oak on tasting.
There is some real concentrated depth of fruit here, and the palate texture is
superb. Has a sweet fruit sense, yet of course it's dry. Lovely wine, which will
improve over the next couple of years. 89/100." - Ray Jordan's Guide to Wine

Wise Rose
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
there are more winemakers attempting to produce high quality wines
in this style. The rose I see leading the charge in the West is the Wise Rose
2002
the colour is a delightful pink. The bouquet is light, fresh and lifted
with a hint of strawberries. The palate is also light, crisp and clean with a
little more body than a white wine. What I like about it most is that it is bone
dry very much in the southern French rose style. On special at around $14,
the Wise rose is good value. Michael Grant, Uncorked.
Wise Pemberton Pinot Noir
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watch for the 2002 Wise Pemberton Pinot Noir with its wild strawberries,
dark cherries, mushrooms and earthy forest floor. Bill Thompson, The Sunday
Times, 10th August, 2003
"...three recent pinot noir wines from Pemberton have started
me thinking that this may well turn out to be our most important location for
the great variety of Burgundy
[The Wise pinot] has wonderfully complex pinot
fruit with a beguiling savoury spiciness
It's a great drink now and I see
no real reason to hang onto it, but there is little doubt that it will make a
wonderful drink in a decade.." Paul Murray, Westcoast Magazine, October 2003.

2001: "A stylish wine showing elegant fine tannins and nicely infused oak.

2001: "A stylish expression of Margaret River cabernet, classically structured.
The fruit is beautifully focused and firm with fine strong tannins and dusty oak.
The smells of lavender and bay leaf are attractive and mingle with understated
blackcurrant characters. It has balance and poise. A classy find. 88/100."

2000: These comments about elegance combined with generosity also apply
to the 2000 Wise Margaret River Lot 80 Cabernet Sauvignon, $26. This is a treat
with ripe berry fruit flavours, equally ripe tannins and near-perfect oak integration.
Bill Thompson, The Sunday Times, 10th August, 2003
2000: its true character - rich, firm and concentrated. It is a serious
wine and with a retail price around $28 I consider it to be good value.
