2004 Pemberton Reserve Chardonnay

5 stars Great Colour; a complex array of flavours; nectarine and light nutty/creamy nuances; long finish. 94/100

“The Wise Reserve Chardonnay (from Pemberton’s Phonecia), are outstanding from 2002 to 2004: fragrant, densely flavoured with white peach an nectarine characters, creamily textured and mouth wateringly dry. … I wasn’t surprised when winemaker Amanda Kramer won the Wine Society’s Young Winemaker of the Year Award.”
Mead’s Living Australia
Wise Pemberton Reserve Chardonnay, 18.5 points, both Wise’s and the Pemberton regions greatest wine of any sort ever, and the 05 is superior.
2003 Pemberton Reserve Chardonnay
JAMES HALLIDAY “Australian Wine Companion” 2006
Medium yellow-green; beautifully made; relatively light sweet nectarine fruit has not been submerged in oak; fresh finish and aftertaste. Rating: 95 (this wine also makes the best of the Chardonnays’ list)
Ray Jordan Wine Guide 2005/2006 – 92/100
“A lot leaner and tighter than the Single Vineyard Chardonnay, as a result of the fruit being sourced from Pemberton. It’s subtle and with great balance. The palate builds deceptively to a powerful and intense explosion of flavour in the mouth. Very long and sustained. Best in a few years.”
2002 Pemberton Reserve Chardonnay
Ray Jordan’s Guide to Wine 2003/2004
“Quite different in structure and flavour to the Donnybrook wine. Shows more tropical fruits and slightly more obvious charry oak on tasting. There is some real concentrated depth of fruit here, and the palate texture is superb. Has a sweet fruit sense, yet of course it’s dry. Lovely wine, which will improve over the next couple of years.”
